ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the relationship between the ratio of signal intensity of fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR)sequence lesion side/contralateral side and the onset time of acute ischemic stroke. Methods Forty-three consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke admitted to the Department of Neurology,Dongguan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from November 2016 to January 2018 were enrolled retrospectively. They were all first onset and were diagnosed by MRI,and the onset time was 0. 5 to 6. 0 h. According to the time window of effective rescue of the penumbra,43 patients were divided into a ≤4. 5 h group (n=19)and a >4. 5-6. 0 h group (n=24). The signal intensity values of FLAIR, diffusion-weighted imaging, signal intensity of apparent diffusion coefficient sequence on the lesion side and contralateral brain tissue in the two groups of patients were measured respectively, and the relative signal intensity (RSI)was calculated and compared between the two groups. Taking RSI as the dependent variable and onset time as the independent variable,a general linear regression analysis was performed. Results (1)In FLAIR sequence, the signal intensity value and RSI value of patients in the≤4. 5 h group were lower than those in the >4. 5-6. 0 h group. There were significant differences between the 2 groups (disease side signal intensity value:531 ± 109 vs. 681 ± 306,t =2. 04;RSI value:1. 19 ± 0. 13 vs. 1. 45 ± 0. 18,t=5. 29,all P<0. 05). There was no significant difference in the signal intensity values on the contralateral sides between the two groups (P>0. 05). (2)In diffusion weighted imaging and apparent diffusion coefficient sequence, there were no significant differences in the signal intensity value and RSI value on the disease side and the contralateral side between the the≤4. 5 hours group and the >4. 5-6. 0 h group (all P>0. 05). (3)In the FLAIR sequence, with the prolongation of the time of the disease,RSI gradually increased, and was positively correlated (r=0. 756,P<0. 01). Conclusions The quantitative measurement of the disease side/contralateral side of FLAIR sequence might reflect the onset time of acute ischemic stroke. Its RSI value increased with the prolonged onset time.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the value of magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography(MRCP) in the diagnosis of biliary obstruction diseases by comparison with endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ER-CP). Methods A total of 36 patients with biliary obstruction diseases underwent both MRCP and ERCP. To review the images obtained from ERCP and MRCP ,the diagnosis were compared according to pathology. MRCP and ERCP in the diagnosis and treatment of biliary obstruction disease were analysed. Results 36 patients including 16 biliary tumors, 15 cholelithiases, and five other diseases were analysed. The diagnosis accuracy of MRCP and ERCP for bil-iary obstruction diseases were 86.1% and 91.7 %, there was no significant difference( P > 0.05). Conclusion MR-CP can accurately define the obstructively sites, identify the obstructive causes and is a noninvasive and reliable exam-ination for biliary obstruction diseases.

ABSTRACT

AIM To discuss the intraspecific relationship in Magnolia officinalis and the genuineness of Cortex Magnoliae officinalis, and to find some DNA characters of certified “Houpo”. METHODS Thirty-three samples from eleven locations, which can represent most of the distribution of M.officinalis, were selected. The total DNA was extracted. Severty-four random primers were tried to get good amplification. RESULTS One hundred and sixteen bands amplified from seventeen primers, were clustered by NTSYS-pc software. Three branches were obtained. Some distinctive primers and bands, which represent certified species or fine breed, were obtained also. CONCLUSION 1) M.officinalis should be divided into three geographic clans instead of two subspecies or varieties, they are, a) typical officinalis, b) typical biloba and c) Middle type. This conclusion agrees with the leaf form and other characters. 2) The genetic difference between “Chuanpo” and “Wenpo” is evident and the difference is in correspondence with the quantities of their chemical constituents. So, the genetic difference is the main reason of the genuineness of Cortex Magnoliae officinalis. 3) These results may be used to establish DNA database for identification of Cortex Magnoliae officinalis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To isolate and determine the structures of chemical constituents from the roots and rootstalks of Rheum emodi. Methods The chemical constituents were isolated and purified by silica gel and polyamide column chromatography.Chemical methods and spectroscopic methods, such as 1H-NMR,13C-NMR,and MS spectra were used for the structure identification. Results Eighteen compounds were obtained.Sixteen of them were identified as:chrysophanol(1),physcion(2),?-sitosterol(3),emodin(4),aloe-emodin(5),rheumin(6),daucosterol(7),d-catechin(8),piceatannol(9),piceatannol-4'-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(10),piceatannol-4'-O-?-D-(6″-O-p-coumaroyl)-glucopyranoside(11),chrysophanol-8-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(12),physcion-1 and 8-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(13a and 13b),emodin-8-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(14),and sucrose(15).Meanwhile,one compound structure simi-lar to rhein was detected. Conclusion Compound 11 is a new compound named rheoside, compounds 13a and 13b are obtained from R.emodi for the first time.
